A delegation from the Executive Council (EC) of the Merian Institute for Advanced Studies in Africa (MIASA), has paid a courtesy call on the Provost of the College of Humanities, Prof. Dan Ofori. The delegation included the two EC Chairs, Prof. Dzodzi Tsikata (University of Ghana), Prof. Andreas Mehler (University of Freiburg), and a member of the EC, Prof. Bernd Kortmann (University of Freiburg). The team was at the University of Ghana for its annual general meeting.
In his welcome remarks, Prof. Ofori reiterated the significant role MIASA plays as a hub for interdisciplinary research and collaboration, one that does not only deepen the relationship between Africa and Germany, but also bridges the gap between the global south and the global north. He was hopeful that the collaboration will be mutually beneficial to all the institutions involved.
Commenting on the future, Prof. Ofori was emphatic about MIASA’s successes and pledged his continuous support to the Institute even beyond the current funding arrangements.
On their part, the delegation applauded the University of Ghana for its collaboration and thanked the Provost for taking a keen interest in the work of MIASA. They also pledged their willingness to support MIASA to further enhance its visibility on the global map.
The team was accompanied by MIASA’s two Directors, Dr. Grace Diabah (UG) and Dr. Susann Baller (Germany), who took turns to thank the Provost for his continuous support for all MIASA events.
