At a meeting held with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah-Amfo, on Thursday, 16th November 2023, the Provost of the College of Humanities, Prof. Daniel Frimpong Ofori, presented and unveiled the College's Maiden Annual Report, as well as its Internal Internship Programme. The Provost was accompanied by Mr. Benedict Fosu Adjei, the College Secretary, Dr. Sheena Lovia Boateng, the College Communications Coordinator, and a team from the College Communications Office. In presenting the purpose of the gathering, Prof. Daniel Frimpong Ofori, the Provost of the College of Humanities, expressed his gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for taking time off her busy schedule to meet with him and his team. The Provost expressed his excitement at the completion of the College of Humanities Annual Report, which is the first of its kind since the establishment of the College, and the successful commencement of the College's Internal Internship Programme following the recent launch of the UG Internship Policy. He commended the efforts of his communications team, led by Dr. Sheena Lovia Boateng, the College Communications Coordinator, for their hard work in completing the report on schedule. The Provost also expressed his pleasure at the finished product and his optimism that the lessons learned from this initial process would be applied to the production of the 2023/2024 edition, which he said is already underway.

Prof. Ofori also announced the launch of the College Internship program, stating that a first set of five interns had been recruited to intern in the College Communications Office. He further indicated that plans were underway to roll out the program on a larger scale, with the aim of recruiting additional interns from other units across the College. In her brief overview, Dr. Boateng explained that the process of producing the 2022/2023 Annual Report began about 18 months ago, with the assistance of the former College Secretary, Mrs. Mavis Otoo-Ayeh. She noted that the process involved a careful compilation of reports on notable events and activities from the various units within the College and other UG units. Dr. Boateng also highlighted the pivotal role of the Provost, as well as contributions from other College officials.

In response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah-Amfo, welcomed the College of Humanities team and commended the efforts of the Provost for successfully curating and producing the College's Annual Report. She stressed the importance of documentation and the role that it plays in creating institutional memory and ensuring continuity, particularly among heads of units. The Vice-Chancellor also noted that many noteworthy activities within the university often go unnoticed and unpublicised. Thus, compiling annual reports is necessary to create a log of such events for the benefit of all members of the university community, as well as stakeholders.

On the commencement of the College Internship program, the Vice Chancellor was elated that the UG Internship Policy was being implemented at the College level. She noted that in the past, many policies launched by the university had not been properly implemented and hoped that the UG Internship Policy would not be one of such. She expressed her delight at the prospects of implementing the internship policy and its ability to integrate experiential learning, emotional intelligence and other soft skills into the training of students at the University of Ghana to make them more competitive in the job market.

Present at the meeting were Mrs. Arhizah Blay-Abiti, Senior Assistant Registrar, Office of the Vice-Chancellor; Ms. Beatrice Awotwi-Pratt, Assistant Registrar and College Communications Officer; Mr. Gabriel Joel Quainoo, Webmaster for the College of Humanities, and two interns from the College Communications Office, Miss Victoria Ofori Darko and Miss Roberta Enyonam Quarmeh. The meeting was held in the New Council Chamber at the University of Ghana.
