He further intimated that employee recognition in all forms was a critical ingredient in the college’s performance management system and constitutes a key pillar of its existence. It is for this reason that the maiden awards event was being held to recognize and reward the efforts of staff and units within the college who had exhibited exemplary behaviour and performance over the period of its existence and worked tirelessly to achieve the vision of the University of Ghana by actualizing the objectives of the College. He went on to commend the leadership of the University of Ghana for its support to the college over the years and congratulated all awardees for their achievements while urging them to continue to work hard to maintain the standards that they had set.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student and Academic Affairs, Prof. Gordon A. Awandare, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, in Chairing the event, commended the College of Humanities for taking the staff awards scheme in the University of Ghana to “another level”. He applauded the college for successfully planning and organizing their maiden awards ceremony, which he said would motivate others to work harder to achieve recognition within the University.
