The College of Humanities (CoH) of the University of Ghana, on August 14, 2025 celebrated excellence, dedication, and service at its 4th Staff Awards ceremony, held at the Cedi Conference Centre. The awards, instituted in 2022, continues to recognize the invaluable contributions of faculty, administrative professionals, and senior and junior staff across the College.
This year’s ceremony was held alongside the closing events of the 7th International Research Conference of the College of Humanities, under the auspices of the Provost. The awards brought together dignitaries, invited guests, faculty, staff, students, sponsors, and the families of awardees.
The afternoon’s program was steered by Dr. Sheena Lovia Boateng, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. Dr. Boateng, who also chaired the planning and organising for the awards, provided engaging moderation throughout the event, ensuring a smooth flow of activities and transitions.

The welcome statement was delivered by Mr. Benedict F. Adjei, Registrar of the College of Humanities, who emphasized the importance of the awards in making staff feel valued for their tireless commitment. Opening remarks by Prof. Gordon Awandare, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, struck a reflective tone: “These awards come at a crucial point where many are overworked and underpaid. They serve as an opportunity to highlight the dedication of those who work diligently behind the scenes to ensure that academic work flows smoothly,” Prof. Awandare noted.

A total of 39 faculty, senior administrative professionals, and senior and junior staff received awards across multiple categories. Winners included:
- Overall Best Worker Awards
- Senior Member Admin/Professional: Mr. Alex Nii Than Crabbe
- Senior Staff: Mr. Landry Kanga Ebi
- Junior Staff: Mr. Issah Essandor
- Meritorious Achievement Award
