Please describe your research in nontechnical language:
 Social and Political Philosophy/ Ethics

How would you explain what you do to someone unfamiliar with your work and field?
Research into the philosophical foundations of society and politics.

What draws you to your work?
The desire to philosophically respond to practical problems of existence

What's your favorite course to teach and why?
Philosophical Questions because students are exposed to fundamental questions of human existence and how they affect life. The course also proffers several practical responses to these questions.

What do you wish others (colleagues, students) knew about what you do?
The practical relevance of the discipline which is often, wrongly, thought to be abstract, abstruse and utopian.

If you could share one piece of advice with students, what would it be?
Keep in mind that Philosophy is done not merely read!

So far in your career, what do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
One great achievement that immediately comes to mind is to have weathered all the storms associated with pursuing this discipline and coming out as the first African female faculty of the Department of Philosophy and Classics, and mentoring many.

Finally, if you weren't doing this, what would you be doing?
 Mentoring and community work.
